Curling! it's the future of sport in Barton Stacey
Icy conditions over the past few weeks have led Barton Stacey Football Club to consider abandoning the game of football and switch to a more appropriate Winter sport like Curling.
With the Olympics around the corner and the country unlikely to achieve any success in the Football competition, there is growing public support for the club to switch sports in order to bring Olympic success to the village.
"These opportunities don't come along very often, and it would be easier than building a slope to have a go at Ski Jumping. Colin Hendry made the successful switch from Football to Curling so why shouldn't we have a go"
A Barton Stacey FC spokesman said.
Support for the proposal also came from the groundstaff
"Get us some blue and red pitch marker and we can make the centre circle into the target. You can use our brushes ,but the slidey shoes you'll have to get yourself"
Anyone with experience of Curling, be it coaching, playing or just running the line, are invited to contact the club and join this exciting new venture as soon as possible before the weather warms up.
